While the big dry is on the forefront of everyone’s minds, there’s no doubt the New England is continuing to grow. With the population of Tamworth on track to crack 100, 000, it begs the question what sort of role will the region play in helping the nation’s economy? New England MP Barnaby Joyce says now is the time to start planning for a bigger population and solidify the region as a major economic hub.
At the State of the Nation lunch Mr Joyce will provide insight into current government policy and discuss what’s happening locally in terms of water security, housing, power prices and major infrastructure developments, including upgrades on the New England Highway and the Northern Inland Centre of Sporting Excellence.
He’ll also give an update on city’s bid for the Qantas Pilot Training Academy, as well as plans to expand the UNE campus in Tamworth and the growth of Guyra’s horticulture industry.
