Council leaders talk “State of the City” at annual Chamber Breakfast

As part of its advocacy efforts for the local business community, Tamworth Business Chamber is pleased to announce the launch of the 2025 Leader Forums which starts with the State of the City Breakfast on Wednesday 5 March at the Tamworth Jockey Club.

As part of its advocacy efforts for the local business community, Tamworth Business Chamber is pleased to announce the launch of the 2025 Leader Forums which starts with the State of the City Breakfast on Wednesday 5 March at the Tamworth Jockey Club.

This year’s State of the City breakfast will see Tamworth Region Mayor Russell Webb overview major Council projects and economic development initiatives before the floor is opened to questions fielded by Council’s Executive Leadership Team including General Manager Paul Bennett.

Tamworth Business Chamber President Dave Errington believes this event is a great way for the business community to stay informed and engaged in the city’s future.

“These events are an important opportunity for the business community to be "in the room" with those shaping our region and to ask them direct questions about the issues impacting business.

“We are a growing regional city and local government plays such an integral role when it comes to water security, population growth strategies, planning approvals not to mention the delivery of critical infrastructure and services like roads, rates and rubbish” said Mr Errington.

Guests attending the State of the City breakfast will enjoy networking time from 6.45am before a hot breakfast is served and the discussion forum begins.  The event is proudly sponsored by NBN Co.

This year’s panel includes Mayor Russell Webb, General Manager -Paul Bennett, Director Water and Waste - Bruce Logan, Director Liveable Communities - Gina Vereker and Director Regional Services Peter Resch.

"Following the recent Local Government elections, there appears to be a widening gap between Council and the community, exacerbated by social media and allegations of misinformation" continued Mr Errington.

"This gathering presents a great opportunity for business leaders to share their concerns and aspirations directly in an open forum with council's key decision-makers.

“Whilst our facilitator will take questions from the floor, we have written to current financial members of Chamber and encouraged them to submit questions before the event so that they can be prioritized” he explained.

Next in the Leader Forum series will be State of the State with Kevin Anderson and State of the Nation with the latter dependent on when a Federal Election is called.
