Dear Members,

April has arrived, and it’s a great time to look back at what we’ve achieved so far this year. The Tamworth Business Chamber remains committed to supporting our local business community through advocacy, networking, and delivering valuable events.

Business After 5 - Building Connections

We recently hosted our latest Business After 5 event at the Commonwealth Bank in Tamworth. Approximately 60 people attended, making it a vibrant and engaging evening. A highlight of the event was a presentation from CBA economist Harry Ottley, who provided a summary of the recently released Federal Budget. These events are a cornerstone of the Chamber’s commitment to networking and collaboration, offering members a chance to build partnerships and share their successes. Thank you to all who attended!

Major Sponsors Announced for Shop Local Campaign

We are thrilled to announce the major sponsors for this year’s Shop Local Campaign. A big thank you to Centrepoint Shopping Centre and Woodleys Motor Group for their ongoing support. We are particularly excited to welcome Tamworth Shopping World as a major sponsor for the first time. Their involvement reflects a growing commitment from local businesses to support each other. This campaign encourages local spending, which is vital for maintaining a strong retail landscape in the Tamworth region.

Federal Budget and Election - Staying Informed and Engaged

With the release of the Federal Budget and the announcement of the upcoming Federal Election, there’s ongoing discussion about how national policies will impact our region. To keep members informed, the Chamber recently hosted a Federal Election Round Table event. Nearly 30 business leaders attended, discussing policies they believe could unlock further potential for the region. The forum offered valuable insights and explored what potential changes might mean for local businesses.

At the Chamber, we value smart, balanced policies that support economic growth without stifling local enterprise. While we remain neutral on political affiliations, we are committed to advocating for policies that benefit our members. Staying informed and proactive during this time is crucial, and I encourage all members to stay informed - Your contribution counts!

Looking Ahead

As we continue through April and beyond, the Chamber remains focused on delivering initiatives that align with our strategic goals of advocacy, education, and community engagement. One key event on the horizon is the 'Meet the Candidates' forum, which the Tamworth Business Chamber is delivering in partnership with our major sponsor, 88.9. This forum will allow the community to meet candidates for the upcoming Federal Election, ask questions, and gain insight into their vision for Tamworth and the wider region. We encourage all members to attend and take part in this community conversation.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the Tamworth Business Chamber. Your support makes our collective success possible. Let’s continue to build on this momentum in the months ahead.

Farewell and Thank You to Mary Ryan-Garnett

We wish to inform you that Mary Ryan-Garnett has made the decision to step down from her position on the Tamworth Business Chamber Board, effective immediately.

While we are saddened by her departure, we fully respect Mary’s decision, which was made due to unforeseen personal circumstances. Mary brought enthusiasm, insight, and a genuine commitment to strengthening the Chamber and its role in our region. Though her time on the Board was short, her contribution to the early work of our new leadership team was deeply appreciated.

On behalf of the Chamber, we sincerely thank Mary for her dedication and support. We are grateful that she will continue to offer guidance in the background and remain an advocate for the Chamber and the broader business community.

We wish Mary all the very best and thank her once again for her service.

Yours in business,

Dave Errington
