Preliminary construction works in Victoria Park for the Tamworth Regional Skywalk will ramp up in February.
It is funded by a $14.3 million grant from the NSW Government under its Regional Tourism Activation Fund and $3.7 million from Council’s Regional Development Fund.
The length of the walkway – from Endeavour Drive to the Oxley Scenic Lookout - is about 1.5km, and includes three viewing areas and two rest areas. It will include signage and features focusing on cultural, educational, historical, and artistic elements.
Fleetwood Urban Pty Ltd was awarded the design and construction contract for the project following a competitive tender process.
In December the Fleetwood team completed first survey set-out works for the network of elevated walking and viewing platforms. They also undertook clearing for construction access and completed geotechnical investigations. It has committed to engaging multiple local businesses to help deliver the project by mid-2026.
The facility is expected to create such an iconic experience for all ages and abilities that it will increase visitation to Tamworth.
