October was a bustling month for the Tamworth Business Chamber, filled with a variety of events designed to support and engage our business community.
We kicked off Small Business Month with three workshops, beginning with an insightful AI session sponsored by UNE. Congratulations to members Bhavin Patel from Holistic Recovery and Sally Urquhart from Healthwise, who were awarded scholarships for the Graduate Certificate in AI! We look forward to learning more from their insights.
Next, we held a Grant Ready Workshop with Active Admin Solutions, where attendees engaged in a practical, interactive session on securing grants. Mid-month, Kate and Abbey took part in the Business NSW Future Leaders Bootcamp, gaining valuable leadership skills to bring back to our Chamber community.
Toward the end of the month, we hosted the Crime Prevention Breakfast sponsored by Centrepoint, featuring Detective Inspector Tom Aylett from the Oxley District Police Command. This event sparked interactive discussions around current crime issues affecting our business community, especially within CBD and retail areas.
Chamber Connect held its fourth BA5 event at Blue Dog Fences, where 50 attendees enjoyed networking, insights from the Blue Dog Fences team, and wood-fired pizzas.
The month wrapped up with the Chamber Connect Long Lunch at the beautiful Bendemeer Hotel, where we launched the Chamber Connect Kick Start Program. This new initiative, a joint effort by the Tamworth Business Chamber and Chamber Connect, will provide an annual $5,000 grant plus training, mentorship, and marketing support for young entrepreneurs and start-ups in Tamworth. Our current auction, which supports the Kick Start Program, is live—see the article below for details!
As we move into November, we’re excited to celebrate the Chamber’s 60th anniversary! Kicking off with the State of the Nation Lunch Sponsored by Commonwealth bank next week, we’ll host guest speakers Barnaby Joyce MP and Harry Ottley from Commonwealth Bank at the Powerhouse Hotel Tamworth by Rydges. The month concludes with our AGM, where members can vote on seven nominees for four spots on the board, followed by a festive gathering for member Christmas drinks to celebrate 2024’s achievements and welcome the year ahead.
With planning well underway for 2025, it promises to be another vibrant year for our Chamber community. Be sure to stay tuned to our newsletter and keep an eye out for updates as we celebrate our 60th year with exciting events and initiatives!
